Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups (300g) all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- 1/2 cup (110g) canola or other neutral-flavored oil
- 1/2 cup (160g) golden syrup (like Lyle’s Golden Cane Syrup)
- 1 teaspoon (8g) regular or alkaline water (the alkaline water will impart a deeper golden color)
- 3/4 cup (250g) red bean paste (see below)
- 6 salted large egg yolks (see below), cut in half
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 cup (200g) dried Asian or adzuki red beans, rinsed and picked over
- 1/2 cup (100g) sugar
- 1/2 cup (90g) canola oil
- 2 cups coarse salt
- 6 large raw egg yolks
