- 3 cups shortening
- 2 tablespoons salted butter
- All-purpose flour, as needed
- 4 tablespoons salted butter
- 2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 4 cups whole milk, or more as needed
- Canned, frozen or homemade biscuits of your choice, baked and ready to eat
