Peppermint Meringue Cookies
Ingredients
- 5 large egg whites, room temperature
- ¼ tsp. cream of tartar
- ¼ tsp. Diamond Crystal or Morton kosher salt
- ¾ cup (150 g) granulated sugar
- ¾ cup (83 g) powdered sugar
- ½ tsp. vanilla extract
- ¼ tsp. peppermint extract
- Red gel food coloring (such as Chefmaster liqua-gel super red; for pastry bag)
- A pastry bag, an Ateco #848 or other large star tip, and very thin paint brush
