Ingredients
- 2 cups ( 400 g ) sugar
- 1 3/4 cups ( 253 g ) all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup ( 74 g ) unsweetened cocoa powder , sifted if lumpy
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup oil (a neutral oil like canola will do, but olive oil is nice, too)
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup fresh strong black coffee (hot, but not boiling)
- 2 batches Easy Chocolate Buttercream , for frosting
