- 1/2 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- Freshly ground black pepper
- 3 tablespoons canola oil
- 1 (3 pound) whole striped bass, scales, fins and innards removed
