- Handful a.p. flour +additional, as needed
- Pinch kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- dash allspice or cloves
- 4 cups beef stock OR
- 2 cups boiling water
- 1 cup beef stock
- 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee
- 1/2 cup red wine
- 2 Red Bliss potatoes cut in 1/2" chunks
- 1/2 pound carrots cut in 1/2" chunks
- 1 each, turnip, parsnip, rutabaga, cut in 1/2" chunks
- 2 celery stalks, cut in 1/2" chunks
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice optional
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 handful fresh parsley, chopped
- 1-2 bay Leaves
