- 400g stewing beef or lamb, cut into small cubes

- ½ cup fresh fenugreek leaves (or 1 tbsp dried)
- ½ cup chives or green onions, chopped
- 1 ½ cups red kidney beans (cooked or canned)
- 3 dried Persian limes (limoo amani), pierced with a fork
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3-4 cups water
