Ingredients
- 1½ pounds bacon cut crosswise into ¼ -inch strips
- 1 pound elbow macaroni
- 8 tablespoons unsalted butter
- ½ cup flour
- 1 tsp. salt plus more to taste
- ¼ tsp. pepper plus more to taste
- 3 cups whole milk or more, as needed
- 1 cup shredded mild cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 8 ounces pesto
