Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 medium red onion, halved, and finely chopped
- 1 medium while onion, halved, and finely chopped
- 1 c chopped carrots
- 1 c peas
- 1 c sliced mushrooms
- 1 lb ground beef (or lamb if you have access to)
- 2 Tbsp plain flour
- 2 c beef stock
- 375 ml red wine (half the bottle if it's a 750ml bottle)
- 1 dried bay leaf
- 1 Tbsp worcestershire sauce
- 1 Tbsp tomato paste
- · salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 5 medium sized potatoes - i use white potatoes such as russet
- 60 g butter
- 1/2-1 c milk
- · melted butter to brush the top of potatoes
