- For syrup:
- 1 1/2 cups sugar

- 1 lemon, halved
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon or 2 short cinnamon sticks
- A drop of rosewater (optional)
- For baklava:
- 1 pound of phyllo dough (1 package)
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cups chopped walnuts
- 1 cup chopped almonds
- 1 cup chopped pistachios
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon cardamom
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
